1. About us
24/7 Emergency Electrician Brechin carries out emergency electrical call-outs in Brechin and across the surrounding parts of Angus. It is run by SKYKAM LTD and is part of Brechin Sparks.
2. Call-out prices
Our current prices are shown on the price list, and James confirms them with you on the phone before setting off:
- Daytime (Monday–Saturday, 8am–6pm): no call-out fee. Labour is £50 an hour, charged in 30-minute blocks, with a £100 minimum charge that covers the first two hours.
- Evening (Monday–Saturday, 6pm–10pm): £150, which includes the call-out and the first hour on site, then £45 for every further 30 minutes.
- Overnight (10pm–8am), Sundays and bank holidays: £195, which includes the call-out and the first hour on site, then £50 for every further 30 minutes.
- Parts are charged on top and agreed with you before they are fitted. No VAT is charged.
3. Deposits
Evening, overnight, Sunday and bank holiday call-outs are confirmed with a £50 deposit, paid through a secure link sent by text before James leaves. The deposit is deducted from your final bill. If James is unable to attend, you get the deposit back in full, usually within 3–5 working days.
4. Cancellations and no access
- If you cancel before James sets off: there is no charge, and any deposit is refunded.
- If you cancel after James has texted to say he is on his way: daytime — no charge; evening — the £50 deposit is kept; overnight, Sundays and bank holidays — £75 (the £50 deposit plus £25).
- Once James has arrived, the call-out fee (or the daytime minimum) is payable even if you choose not to go ahead, as it pays for him attending and his first time on site.
- If nobody answers the door or the phone within 15 minutes of James arriving, this counts as a cancellation after he set off.
Certain contracts made by phone or away from business premises come with statutory cancellation rights. If you ask us to do urgent repair work straight away, that work may start, at your request, during any cancellation period.
5. Approval of work
James tells you what he has found and agrees the price of any repair or parts with you before carrying it out. You can approve work verbally, by text or by email. If a fault can only be made safe on the night, the full repair can be booked for another time.
6. Payment
- Unless agreed otherwise, payment is due once the job is complete. You can pay by card, bank transfer or cash.
- There is no extra charge for paying by card.
- Invoices and receipts are available on request and are provided for all larger jobs.
7. Workmanship and materials
- All work is done with reasonable care and skill and to BS 7671 and any other UK electrical safety requirements that apply.
- Materials we supply come with the manufacturer's warranty where there is one.
- Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
8. Availability
The phone is answered 24 hours a day. Attending an emergency depends on availability, and any response time we give is an estimate rather than a guarantee.
9. Insurance
We carry public liability insurance, and can send you a copy of the current certificate on request.
10. Complaints
If anything about the service has not been right, please let us know as soon as you can. Our complaints process explains what happens next.
11. Governing law
Scots law governs these terms, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute that cannot be settled by agreement.
