Like most websites, this one receives basic technical details such as your IP address and browser type, which are used to keep the site secure and to deliver the contact form. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
2. How we use information
- To reply to calls, messages and enquiries.
- To organise and carry out emergency call-outs and booked electrical work.
- To take deposits, send quotes, invoices and receipts, and keep a record of each job.
- To handle complaints, insurance matters and our legal obligations.
- To keep the website secure and running properly.
3. Legal basis
We use personal data where we need it to answer your enquiry, to set up or carry out a contract with you, to comply with the law, or for legitimate business reasons such as keeping accurate records of the work we do.
4. Deposits and payments
Evening, overnight and Sunday call-outs are confirmed with a £50 deposit, paid through a secure payment link sent to you by text. Your card details are dealt with by the payment provider; we never store them.
5. Sharing
We never sell your personal information. We only pass it on where we need to, to:
- Providers of email, hosting, website, payment, accounting or IT services.
- Insurers, professional advisers or debt recovery services, where necessary.
- Trading Standards, the local council, the courts or regulators, where the law requires it.
- Brechin Sparks, if a job carries on as booked work after an emergency visit.
6. Retention
- Enquiries that do not turn into work are usually kept for up to 2 years.
- Records of customers, jobs, certificates and complaints are kept for as long as they are needed for business, insurance, tax, safety or legal purposes.
- Accounting records are usually kept for 6 years plus the current accounting year.
7. Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data deleted where the law allows, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to receive a copy of data you gave us. If you are not happy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
